On Wednesday 16th February 2022, 13 students from the Sustainable Resources Course from University College London came to visit the CAMBOND Site at NIAB Eastern Agri-Tech Innovation Hub. They were enthusiastic and excited to learn about what CAMBOND can offer in alignment with their course.
Upon arrival, the students were greeted by the team and were introduced to CAMBOND team with each member giving an introduction of themselves and their part in the company. Lydia Smith from NIAB was also present to guide the students through the work of the innovation hub as a whole.
Afterwards the students moved into the laboratory and were showed the process and some of the results of CAMBOND’s latest project backed by the Royal Society of Chemistry. From the process to the end result, the students were engaged – asking questions and feeling the materials CAMBOND has created.
Moving into the showcasing room, the students were amazed to see a broad variety of the products CAMBOND has created. From construction boards to homeware, they were intrigued by how much there was to see, inspecting them all and asking questions about materials and processes.
The students were shown how to produce the CAMBOND bio-resin, some of them even tried it themselves! They then witnessed firsthand how it is incorporated into creating a sandwich board for construction.
Once the tour was over, the students returned to the meeting room where CAMBOND CEO Xiaobin Zhao gave them an in-depth talk to help the students understand the real things happening in UK circular economy and how CAMBOND is turning waste into valuable products via its innovation.
The students were thankful for the experience and were engaged from beginning to end as they learnt about the industry. As the visit was such a success, UCL has already shown interest in having a future CAMBOND visit!
